The Police Officer
After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Bill continued his commitment to public service as a police officer in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Surf City, North Carolina.
Law enforcement required calm under pressure, sound judgment, compassion, restraint, and resilience. It placed Bill in situations where people were often at their most vulnerable, most frightened, or most difficult. Those experiences gave him a deeper understanding of people, conflict, consequence, and the fragile line between order and chaos.
That perspective continues to influence his work as an actor, writer, producer, and filmmaker. The characters and stories he is drawn to are rarely simple. They reflect real people under stress, navigating fear, duty, guilt, loyalty, obsession, sacrifice, and redemption.
Some lessons about humanity are learned when people are at their very best. Others are learned when they are at their worst. Both shape the stories Bill chooses to tell.
